Public meetings are every four weeks and loosely-formal. This means a serious talk + question and answers via a chairman. Book reviews and news items are welcomed. We provide an environment where it is easy to get to know others and their interests.

Meeting Location

The venue for meetings is currently St. Albans church located in Hokowhitu (south-east corner of Palmy). Click here for a map. The church is very close to the round-a-bout in the centre of the map.

Future Meeting Topics

The following lists some ideas for topics that could be examined in future meetings:

Short talks…

• Why is logic so important?
• What are axioms and why are they so important?
• Lots of examples of logical fallacies to highlight bad (and good) thinking.
• Overview of creationist positions on the age of the earth and universe.
• Overview of different apologetic methods (Plantinga’s basic beliefs apologetic; Schaeffer’s cultural apologetic)
• Why is philosophical thinking so important?
• Who are the great apologists (historical and contemporary)?

Presentation at Public Meetings

• Meetings are planned well in advance to give the presenter adequate time to research and prepare.
• Meetings will be advertised at Massey University so expect some students to be present.
• A question and answer time will generally follow each presentation so the presenter should do their research with this in mind.
• Presentations should be rehearsed, preferably in front of someone who will honestly critique your material and presentation style.
• Emailing your presentation to a few others to read and critique would be a good idea. Some members will be glad to review your work and offer comments.
• Presentations should be timed to be 45 minutes maximum. This is not inscribed on a stone tablet but does indicate a our preference.
• Shorter presentations will allow more Q & A time and also allow other items such as news and book reviews to be presented at the meeting.
• IMPORTANT – With all this in mind, the goal of the meeting presentations is NOT to embarrass or pull anybody down. Rather, we want to foster and encourage people in their learning and and to be great ambassadors for Christ. Presentations provide a unique goal or focal point where members can share their learning, study and research on the subjects they love and enjoy, with others. Question times should help everyone to better grasp the material presented as the presenter’s topic is probed from different angles. We aim to create a place where we can all love God with our minds and help and encourage others to do likewise.
