Well, well, well, NZers often get accused of importing the worst from America, but in this case we have imports from the UK. Not that I am saying that this is worst — I hardly think so. I would much rather listen to Richard Dawkins than Oprah Winfrey! In fact, when MCAS was interviewed for the local paper a few years ago, one of the main points we wanted to get across was that we wanted “the God issue” to be brought back into public discussion. And this bus campaign will do exactly that. Hallelujah!

Hi Rob,
I’m an atheist and I applaud your attitude, although I’ve yet to see any of these debates that you mentioned in your stuff comment. You know, the ones atheists keep losing? I must be watching different debates, ‘cos we’ve won all the ones I’ve seen
Like this one for instance http://www.intelligencesquared.com/iq2-video/2009/catholic-church
I think the results speak for themselves.
Thanks Colin for the comment.
Well, I think William Lane Craig has won every debate I have listened to between himself and various opponents. I think the recent’ish debates he did in New Zealand were actually a bit embarrassing. John Lennox, Oxford colleague of Richard Dawkins, has debated Dawkins twice, and I think routed him. Stephen Meyer of the ID community recently had a nice chat with Oxford’s Peter Atkins (Atkins is a very clever chap, as we tend to use his textbook in physics/chemistry). This discussion I think really showed that the scientific/ID debate comes down to philosophy rather than the scientific evidence. Stephen Meyer versus Peter Ward was really good but a few years old now.
There are lots of other debates going on which is really great. Why should our society not aggressively wrestle with these big-picture issues? We should thank Richard Dawkins et al. for bringing these great debates back into the public arena
Warmest regards,
Rob
